Electric powertrain and energy management system for 24-passenger catamaran

"Rotterdam Watertaxi is betting on Pascal's system for both their conventional and air-lubricated hulls — a strong vote of confidence in the platform."
We have signed our first standalone powertrain integration contract for a 12-meter fully electric catamaran operating on Rotterdam's waterways. The vessel features our integrated electric powertrain and energy management system — without our AirHull technology — demonstrating that Pascal's powertrain stands on its own.
Introduction
We have signed our first standalone powertrain integration contract with Rotterdam Watertaxi — the largest waterway transport operator in the city. The vessel is a 12-meter fully electric semi-foiling catamaran concept developed by Green Power Boats, designed to carry 24 passengers on Rotterdam's waterways. It is the first time Pascal delivers powertrain integration as a standalone product, independent of our AirHull hull technology.
About the project
Rotterdam Watertaxi selected Pascal to deliver a complete integrated electric powertrain and energy management system for a new passenger vessel entering service in Rotterdam. The 12-meter catamaran concept by Green Power Boats, and will serve daily passenger transport on the city's waterways.
The scope of Pascal's delivery covers the full powertrain architecture: propulsion, battery system, power distribution, consumer management, and vessel controls — all operating as one integrated package. The operator interface and automation logic follow the same platform Pascal has developed for its AirHull vessels, ensuring a consistent and proven user experience.
What this means
This contract marks an important milestone for Pascal. It demonstrates that our powertrain integration capability is a standalone commercial product — not dependent on the AirHull system. Yards and operators can now choose Pascal for hybrid or fully electric vessel integration regardless of hull type or vessel concept.
Rotterdam Watertaxi is also a customer for an upcoming AirHull vessel with integrated powertrain, making them a reference across both of Pascal's vessel technology platforms.

About Rotterdam Watertaxi
Rotterdam Watertaxi is the largest waterway passenger transport operator in Rotterdam, running a high-frequency taxi service across the city's rivers and harbours. Operating out of Europe's largest port, they are one of the most visible and commercially demanding operators in urban maritime transport — with vessels running continuously for six or more hours a day.
The company has publicly committed to a fully zero-emission fleet by 2030. This is not just an internal ambition: Rotterdam is among the first Dutch cities to implement zero-emission zone regulation, and similar requirements are expected to extend to commercial vessels operating on city waterways as national and EU frameworks tighten through the decade. For Rotterdam Watertaxi, the transition is both a strategic priority and an operational necessity.
That makes them an exacting customer — and a meaningful one. When an operator of this scale and profile selects Pascal for their powertrain, it carries real weight. They have experience with multiple energy technologies and know what it takes to run vessels reliably in a high-utilisation, urban environment. Their decision to use Pascal's integrated electric powertrain and energy management system — and to bet on the same platform for their upcoming AirHull vessel — is a strong validation of the technology and the team behind it.
